Vishal Upendran is a Research Associate at the Bay Area Environmental Research Institute, focusing on spectral disambiguation for NASA's MUSE mission. Previously, Vishal co-led the FDL-X Multiscale Geoeffectiveness team at Frontier Development Lab, developing a space weather forecasting model. A PhD graduate in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the Inter-University Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics in Pune, India, Vishal has also conducted research on solar storm geoeffectiveness and solar wind modeling at various institutions, including TIFR Bombay and Frontier Development Lab. With a strong foundation in design, Vishal played leadership roles in astronomy and physics initiatives at IIT Madras while earning bachelor's and master's degrees in Engineering Design and Biomedical Design.
