Martyn Conkling

Martyn Conkling has a diverse work experience, starting in 2015 as a Middle School Teacher at Taiwan International Christian Academy, where they taught English, Pre-Algebra, and History to 7th and 8th-grade students. Martyn then worked as an English Language Teacher at Global Village Organization, leading classes of adults in reading and facilitating English conversation practice.

In 2016, Martyn Conkling taught ESL at St. Louis Language Institute Taichung, focusing on speaking (phonics and conversation) and reading for students aged 5 to 18. Martyn also planned activities and assessments based on the existing curriculum.

From 2017 to 2019, Martyn ran their own business as a Programming & English Tutor, providing tutoring and education consulting services to grade school students in Python programming, mathematics, English reading comprehension, conversation skills, and essay writing.

During the same period, Martyn worked as an English Teacher at Global Village Organization, teaching English conversation and reading comprehension to adult part-time students and answering questions about USA culture.

In 2019, Martyn interned at Clearwave Software as a Software Quality Assurance Intern, where they wrote automated user tests using the Cypress.io testing framework for a web application built with Angular 2+.

Martyn also gained experience at Bay Valley Tech, where they worked as an Intern and Mentor, building JavaScript and Angular 2+ projects under the guidance of professional developers. Martyn also served as a Mentor for Bay Valley Tech's web development internship.

In 2019, Martyn joined the Valley Sierra Small Business Development Center (SBDC) as a Business Consultant, where they helped clients with business licensing and starting digital services and consulting businesses.

Most recently, Martyn became a Junior Front-End Web Developer at OtterSoft in 2022, furthering their skills in web development. Alongside their work, they are currently serving as the Web Development Program Director at Bay Valley Tech Code Academy.

Martyn Conkling obtained a Highschool Diploma from Morrison Academy in an unknown year. After that, they attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa from 2009 to 2014, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History. In 2012, they also obtained an American TESOL Advanced Certification from the American TESOL Institute. Later in 2017 and 2018, they completed an online web development self-study bootcamp at Flatiron School.
