Neri M. Cohen, MD, PhD, FACS, FCCP has a diverse and extensive work experience. Neri M. founded and currently serves as the President of The Center for Healthcare Innovation, a non-profit center focused on healthcare delivery research. In this role, they oversee all center operations, evaluates research projects, and conducts clinical trials.

Dr. Cohen is also the Clinical Informatics Lead at Bayesian Health, where they provide guidance on clinical and technical matters related to new product development. In the past, Dr. Cohen was the Chief Medical Officer at Bearpac Medical, a startup developing patient-centered therapies. Neri M. advised the company on clinical and technical aspects and played a role in obtaining FDA clearance and conducting clinical studies.

At GBMC HealthCare, Dr. Cohen held several positions, including Chief Medical Information Officer and Vice-Chair of the Department of Surgery. Neri M. led information and knowledge management strategy, implemented innovations in information systems, and championed the integration of electronic health records.

Dr. Cohen has also worked as a Consultant at ATRIUM MEDICAL CORPORATION, Chief Medical Officer at Firefly Medical Inc., and Chief Medical Science Officer at Flow Health. Neri M. has been actively involved in various medical associations and served as Chairman of the Board of Baltimore County Medical Association.

Neri M. Cohen, MD, PhD, FACS, FCCP has an extensive education history. Neri M. received their BA in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from Northwestern University in 1982. Neri M. then pursued further education at Northwestern University, earning an MS in Neurobiology in 1981. In the same year, they began their studies at the University of Maryland Baltimore and obtained their PhD in Physiology & Biophysics in 1987. Additionally, in 1982, they graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, earning their MD degree.

Dr. Cohen continued their medical training at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, completing their General Surgery residency from 1989 to 1996. Following this, they specialized in Cardiothoracic Surgery and completed their fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine from 1996 to 1998. In the subsequent year, they received board certification in Surgery from the American Board of Surgery.

In 1998, Dr. Cohen briefly attended the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where they focused on Lung Transplantation.

Throughout their career, Dr. Cohen has obtained various certifications. In 1999, they achieved board certification in Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery from the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Neri M. became a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians in 2000 and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 2001.

Dr. Cohen's extensive education and certifications reflect their dedication and expertise in the field of medicine, particularly in the areas of surgery, cardiovascular & thoracic surgery, and lung transplantation.
