Ben Vellek has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Ben started their career as a Research Assistant at the University of Washington Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences from 2008 to 2009. Ben then worked as a Lab Technician at Dermatopathology Northwest from 2011 to 2013. From 2013 to 2015, they served as a Diabetes Clinical Research Coordinator at Benaroya Research Institute.

In 2016, Ben ventured into full-stack JavaScript development as they worked on Academic Projects, specifically on a web application called PIVO-CHECK. This application utilized various technologies such as MongoDB, Express, React, Redux, Sass, and JSON Web Tokens.

Continuing their career in software engineering, Ben joined Curalate in 2017 as a Solutions Engineer, where they stayed until 2020. During their time at Curalate, they also took on roles as a Software Engineer and later as a Senior Software Engineer, Team Lead.

Currently, Ben is employed at Bazaarvoice, where they started in 2020 and has since taken on progressively more senior roles. Ben first served as a Senior Software Engineer until 2021 before being promoted to Senior Software Engineer, Team Lead. Their most recent role at Bazaarvoice is that of a Staff Software Engineer, Team Lead, which they assumed in February 2022.

Throughout their work experience, Ben has demonstrated their expertise in software engineering, leadership, and research coordination.

Ben Vellek obtained their bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Chemistry from the University of Washington from 2007 to 2011. In 2016 to 2017, they pursued a degree program in Web Development as a Full Stack Web Developer from Thinkful. Additionally, they have obtained certifications such as Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification and Medical Assistant Registered from the Washington State Department of Health in August 2014. Furthermore, they have certifications in CPR and Wilderness First Responder (WFR) from the Wilderness Medicine Training Center in February 2014. Ben also holds an AIARE I certification from the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education, although the month of obtaining this certification is not specified.
