Kevin Sweeney has a diverse work experience in the field of security and compliance. Kevin currently holds the position of President at Gaming Security Professionals of Canada, a role they have held since November 2021. Prior to this, they served as Vice President/Secretary Treasurer on the board of the same organization from June 2016 to November 2021.
Before their current role, Kevin worked at BCLC starting in 2006. Kevin held various positions during their tenure, including Director of Enterprise Compliance & Security, Director of Security, Privacy and Compliance, Director of Compliance & Investigations, Manager of Lottery Investigations, Manager of Operational Gaming Compliance, and Manager of Casino Operations. Kevin also served as a Gaming Compliance Officer during their time at BCLC.
Prior to working at BCLC, Kevin was a Park Patroller at the City of New Westminster from May 2004 to October 2012.
Their earliest work experience in the industry was as a Manager of Casino Surveillance at Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited from December 1999 to June 2006.
Kevin Sweeney's education history includes pursuing the Investigations and Enforcement Certificate and Auxilary Constable Program at the Justice Institute of British Columbia from 2011 to 2016. Kevin then obtained a Certificate in Risk Management from Simon Fraser University between 2009 and 2011. In 2008 to 2010, Kevin completed an Executive Education - Business Leadership Diploma at UBC Sauder School of Business. Currently, they are working towards a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Thompson Rivers University, expected to be completed between 2020 and 2026. Additionally, Kevin obtained the Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional-International (CCEP-I) certification in October 2023.
