Process Engineer II at Be Bio

Emily Donovan has over three years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. Emily began their career in 2019 as an Upstream Process Development Co-op at Bristol-Myers Squibb. In this role, they sampled bioreactors ranging in size from 15mL to 500L for pH corrections, cell viability and cell counts, as well as metabolites in order to accurately correct feed strategies for CHO cell experiments. Emily also had experience using automated liquid handlers (TECAN), Vicell, and Cedex Bio HT and performing troubleshooting.

In 2020, Emily joined CRISPR Therapeutics as an Upstream Engineer II. In this role, they were a subject matter expert on AAV upstream process and had experience with triple transient transfection as well as plasmid optimization surrounding transfection. Emily also had experience with downstream process operations such as TFF (UF/DF) and Akta use, and was responsible for authoring SOPs, DOP’s, and DBR’s. Emily also had GMP experience regarding tech transfer from platform development to CMO as well as being person in plant (PiP). In addition, they had experience using JMP and DoE.

Currently, Emily is working as a Process Engineer II at Be Biopharma since 2022.

Emily Donovan attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute from 2016 to 2020, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering.
