Kathryn Burns

Kathryn provides creative, strategic direction and leadership to the Beacon Academy Trust; developing with Trustees and leaders the vision, values and key aims for the MAT. She balances her time between BMAT central activity and working closely with the Trust Executive securing buy-in across the MAT to the vision, values and aims; identifying key polices and initiatives to help embed commitment and make the vision and values real. Thus aligning people and development plans to work towards the agreed goals by constantly reviewing and evaluating progress and impact to refresh the vision.

Kathryn has a wide-ranging background that includes: school and corporate leadership, consultant and advisory work both locally and nationally; a former Head of English and author of literacy texts. Most recently founding BMAT leading on establishing its’ constitution, incorporating the teaching alliance, SCITT (School Centered Initial Teacher Training) and BBIH Free School successful applications, whilst building the central services infrastructure to support the BMAT schools.
