David Harris

David Harris is the current VP of Strategic Operations at BeamUP. Prior to their current position, Harris served as the Global Head of Security for Barclays Wealth from January 2006 to January 2009. In this role, they were selected by the CEO and COO to develop a security function for the start-up private wealth management division within the Bank. Harris hired, mentored and led a corporate team of six security experts and matrix-managed 200 third-party staff to provide end-to-end security services aligned with risk appetite and corporate vision. David defined policies, processes and procedures and rolled out strict governance, controls and risk management frameworks. David also created an effective communication strategy to advise on the ever-changing geopolitical and socio-economic landscape to minimise asset loss, safeguard brand reputation and increase safety.

From February 2002 to January 2006, Harris served as the Deputy Global Head of Security for Barclays Capital. Before that, they were the Founder / MD / Consultant / Software Designer for Leidon Consulting Ltd. From January 2009 to May 2019, Harris served as the MD / Director of Physical Security for Barclays Bank Plc. And prior to all of that, from March 1990 to January 2001, Harris served as a Detective Senior Inspector for the Royal Hong Kong Police.

David Harris has an MBA from Leicester University in General Finance and an MSc in Risk and Security Management from the same school.
