Sashaina Fanibunda has a diverse work experience in the field of health and life sciences. Sashaina started their career in 2007 at the Indian Council of Medical Research, where they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biosciences until 2012. Following that, they joined the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in 2013 as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Prof. Vidita Vaidya's Lab, where they worked until 2017. In 2017, Sashaina joined the Kasturba Health Society-MRC as a Principal Investigator, where they conducted research until 2020. In 2020, they also took up a role as Assistant Professor at the Kasturba Health Society-MRC and Vaidya Lab-TIFR Alliance. Currently, they are working as a Life Sciences Consultant specializing in Psychedelics at Beckley Psytech, starting from 2023.
Sashaina Fanibunda has a diverse education history. Sashaina obtained a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Life Sciences from St. Xavier's College. Afterward, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Life Sciences from Jobs For Women. Following their master's, Sashaina went on to earn a Ph.D. from the Indian Council of Medical Research, National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health (NIRRH). Currently, they are working as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Vidita Vaidya Lab at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai.
In addition to their formal education, Sashaina Fanibunda has also completed a certification in Science Journalism and Communication. Sashaina obtained this certification from the National Centre for Biological Sciences during the 6th Annual Science Journalism Workshop held in June 2016.
