Description:
Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) is seeking consultancy support for a project the Brazilian National Development Bank (BNDES). BNDES plays a fundamental role for the Brazilian economy, with the potential to accelerate the country's decarbonization and climate transition. CPI is collaborating with BNDES to provide expertise and tools to address the challenges to implement a successful climate strategy, enabling BNDES to adopt strong and comprehensive climate metrics, integrating the different aspects of climate management. The project’s outcomes relate to orienting BNDES’ portfolio, leverage Fundo Clima's pipeline, and provide inputs and KPIs for BNDES’ Sustainable Finance Framework, all of which will strengthen climate finance flows in Brazil. This consultancy contract is effective from May to December 2024, with an expected workload of 20 hours per week
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Economics, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Strong understanding of climate change science, carbon accounting principles, and sustainability frameworks (e.g. SDG)
Proven experience in analyzing carbon emissions, with familiarity on both portfolio emissions estimates and UN/CDM/JI/Voluntary markets carbon abatement methodologies.
Proficiency in quantitative analysis techniques and statistical software (e.g., Excel, R, Python).
Familiarity with multi-criteria decision analysis methodologies and tools.
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
Ability to work independently with limited input.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into actionable insights.
Passionate about sustainability and making a positive impact on the environment and society.
