Alex Catalan is currently a Trustee at Beloit College. Prior to that, they worked as an External Application Reader at Yale University from November 2014 to April 2015. In this role, they evaluated undergraduate applications to Yale University for admission to Yale-NUS College, a highly selective (<4% acceptance rate) joint-venture liberal arts college in Singapore. From September 2014 to May 2015, Catalan also worked as a Graduate Assistant for the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid at the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education (Penn GSE). In this role, they recruited students nationally, coordinated online and campus events, managed ambassador program, purchased prospect contacts and developed corresponding marketing plans, and served as a liaison to program managers and faculty.
From May 2010 to August 2014, Catalan worked as Associate Director of Admissions and Coordinator of Intercultural Initiatives at Beloit College. In this role, they oversaw recruitment efforts for domestic students of color and international students, managed the budget for recruitment travel, and created and implemented programming designed to enhance the intercultural competence of the student body. Catalan also interned with Overture Center for the Arts from January to May 2010, where they assisted with programming and marketing initiatives. Lastly, Catalan interned with Obama for America from August 2008 to November 2008, working on various campaign initiatives leading up to the election.
Alex Catalan has a Master's of Science in Education from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts from Beloit College.
