Carla Melaco

Research Coordinator at Beloved Community

Carla Melaco is Beloved Community’s Research Coordinator. Prior to Beloved Community, Carla worked in development and DEI initiatives as Development Director at a climate adaptation NGO. Carla’s research background has involved hospice care in US prisons, EU Open Border policy, and Intellectual Property Law in Senegal. Carla was drawn to Beloved as a space to develop research that interrogates neutrality and empowers the communities it serves. Carla has previously served at The French Embassy in NYC, spoken for the US-Embassy in London and Sutton Trust-Fulbright Commission, and held a 2020 Tamer Social Enterprise Fellowship through Columbia Business School.

An alumna of Barnard College, Columbia University, Carla holds a B.A. in French Literature and Translation, with minors in Psychology, Spanish, and Dance. Outside of her professional pursuits, Carla enjoys cycling around New York, appreciating nature, spending time with friends, and dancing.
