Matthew Begemann

Matthew Begemann is a seasoned professional in the field of microbiology and genetic engineering, currently serving as Sr Director of Gene Editing & Trait Discovery at Benson Hill since June 2014. Begemann has advanced through various positions at the company, including Associate Director and Research Scientist. Prior experience includes a graduate research role at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, focusing on genetics and metabolic engineering of cyanobacteria, and a research assistant position at the University of Missouri, concentrating on bioremediation and hydrogen production. Begemann holds a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a BS in Biochemistry from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
