Derek Lai is an experienced professional in the food industry with a strong background in sushi operations and management. Currently serving as the Area Manager of BC Operations at Bento Sushi since March 2018, Derek has previously held various leadership roles, including Area Supervisor in Vancouver. At Save-On-Foods, from November 2011 to February 2018, Derek focused on the management and development of ethnic deli, BBQ, hot food, and sushi offerings. Prior experience includes serving as the AFC Regional Manager for Canada West and Alaska at Advanced Fresh Concepts Franchise Corporation, where recruitment and training of franchisees were key responsibilities. Derek's career began as a sushi bar manager at Thrifty Foods, where operational expertise was gained. Educationally, Derek holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Kwantlen Polytechnic University, completed between 1997 and 1999.
