Sara Danielsen

General Manager at Berkeley Repertory Theatre

Sara Danielsen is the current interim General Manager at Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Sara has previously worked as the General Manager for Second Stage Theatre from May 2018 to November 2021. In their role as General Manager, Sara was responsible for contracting, budgeting, and operations for all productions and projects at both the 597-seat Hayes Theater on Broadway and the 296-seat Kiser Theater and 108-seat McGinn/Cazale Theater off-Broadway.

Sara also supervised Company Management, Operations and Facilities, FOH, and Box Office staff, and was responsible for COVID safety compliance efforts and planning, including union safety plans. Sara drafted, negotiated, and executed author licensing and commissioning agreements; director, designer, and other creative team agreements (including casting agency); and had active oversight of actor, musician, and other individual artist agreements.

In addition, Sara negotiated, drafted, and executed co-production and co-commissioning agreements with peer not-for-profit theatres and enhancement agreements with commercial producers. Sara also collaborated with the Executive Director, Director of Finance and Production Manager on season and institutional budgeting and analysis. As General Manager, Sara was also responsible for the institutional relationship with LORT management and with AEA, SDC, USA, AFM and IATSE unions.

Sara has been an active member of the theatre community, collaborating with other NY nonprofit and LORT theatre GMs to maintain industry standards

Sara Danielsen has a Bachelor's degree in Theater, English and American Literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Sara also has a Master's degree (abt) in Dramatic Arts from UC Santa Barbara.
