J Martin Perez

J Martin Perez, MD has an extensive work history in the field of surgery and trauma care. J Martin is currently serving as the Trauma Medical Director at Berkshire Health Systems since 2023. Prior to this role, they held positions at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School as the Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery starting from 2013, and at Hackensack Meridian Health where they were an Attending Surgeon and later became the SICU Medical Director, Physician & Surgeon from 2007 to 2022. In addition, they also worked at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine as the Clinical Assistant Processor of Surgery from 2017 to 2023. Dr. Perez started their career at SUNY STONYBROOK UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL as an Attending Surgeon, Division of Trauma and Critical Care from 1999 to 2002, followed by a role as an Attending surgeon at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick from 2002 to 2006.

J Martin Perez, MD completed their education with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of California, Berkeley in 1988. J Martin then pursued a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at Harvard Medical School from 1988 to 1992. Following that, they completed a General Surgery Residency at Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences from 1992 to 1997. In 1997 to 1999, Dr. Perez undertook a Fellowship in Trauma Surgical Critical Care at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. J Martin further expanded their knowledge and skills by obtaining additional certifications such as Surgical Critical Care (SCC) from the American Board of Surgery in 1999 and General Surgery in 1998. Recently, from 2022 to 2024, they pursued a Master's degree in Clinical Systems and Operations at Harvard Medical School Postgraduate Medical Education.
