J Martin then pursued a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at Harvard Medical School from 1988 to 1992. Following that, they completed a General Surgery Residency at Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences from 1992 to 1997. In 1997 to 1999, Dr. Perez undertook a Fellowship in Trauma Surgical Critical Care at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. J Martin further expanded their knowledge and skills by obtaining additional certifications such as Surgical Critical Care (SCC) from the American Board of Surgery in 1999 and General Surgery in 1998. Recently, from 2022 to 2024, they pursued a Master's degree in Clinical Systems and Operations at Harvard Medical School Postgraduate Medical Education.
