Chief Software Architect at Betteries

Brent Velthoen has been working in the software industry since 2000. From 2000-2005, they were a Senior Designer at Terrace Consulting, Inc., where they designed and implemented a rapid application development toolset for .NET web applications. From 2005-2016, they worked at Workday, Inc. as a Senior Architect, leading the development of middle-tier distributed services and web applications that connected front-end user interface clients to back-end platform services. From 2016-2019, they were Chief Architect at Kountable, Inc., where they defined microservice architecture to support diverse functional areas of product and geographically dispersed teams, and created a change-data-capture service to replicate change-sets from MySql binary replication log to AWS Kinesis streams for sharing data among microservices. Currently, they are the Chief Software Architect at betteries.

Brent Velthoen attended Davidson College for one year, from 1991 to 1992. Brent then attended Westmont College from 1992 to 1995, where they obtained a BA in Analytic Philosophy. Additionally, they hold certifications from Microsoft and Sun as a Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) and Sun Certified Enterprise Architect (SCEA), respectively.
