Ryan began their career as an Officer in the United States Air Force, serving in various roles including B-52 FTU Instructor Radar Navigator and Chief of Wing Plans and Programs. After leaving the Air Force in 2018, Ryan joined Summit Technical Solutions, LLC as a Standoff Weapons Planner. In this role, they integrated standoff weapons planning at the Standoff Munitions Application Center (SMAC) and coordinated with other services and international partners. Their role involved leading and integrating spacecraft vehicle integration, demonstrating their technical expertise and leadership abilities.

Ryan B. completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, between 1994 and 1998. After that, they pursued a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Aerospace Engineering Sciences, with an Engineering Management Certificate from the University of Colorado Boulder, from 2007 to 2011.
