Rishi Coupland has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. In 1999, they started their career as a Design Engineer at Kimberly-Clark, where they worked for four years. In 2003, they transitioned to become a Digital Campaigns Manager at Royal Mail until 2006. Following this, they joined Southbank Centre as a Marketing Services Manager, where they worked until 2012.
In 2012, Rishi joined the National Theatre as the Head of Audience Strategy, a role they held until 2016. Rishi then became the Head of Data Intelligence at the same organization until 2021. During their time at the National Theatre, they also served as a Clore Fellow from 2017 to 2018.
In 2018, Rishi became a Trustee at London Arts in Health Forum, a position they held until 2021.
Currently, Rishi is associated with the British Film Institute (BFI) as the Head of Research and Insight, a role they assumed in 2021. Additionally, starting from 2023, they will take on the role of Director of Research and Industry Innovation at BFI.
Rishi Coupland obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London between 1995 and 1999. In 2018, Rishi also obtained a certification in Design Thinking - Insights for Innovation from IDEO.
