Thomas Bates has a diverse work experience in various fields. Thomas started working as a Research Assistant in the PAES research group in 2012, where they maintained vacuum systems and analyzed data using Excel. Thomas then joined the Theoretical Condensed Matter Research Group as a Research Assistant in 2013. In 2014, Thomas worked as a Grader and a Lab Coordinator's Assistant at the University of Texas at Arlington. From 2015 to 2016, they worked as a Research Engineer at CALVERT SYSTEMS ENGINEERING, INCORPORATED, where they performed simulations and produced reports using Python and Excel. Thomas then joined the University of Texas in 2016 as a Graduate Physics Research and Teaching Assistant, where they designed and analyzed data for a medical imager prototype. In 2019, they became an Associate Consultant at Wipro Ltd. in India and recently, in 2020, started working as a Software Engineer at BGI, LLC.

Thomas Bates completed their education at The University of Texas at Arlington. Thomas obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Physics from 2016 to 2018. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from the same university between 2010 and 2014. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications, including "Improving Your Memory," "Succeeding in Web Development: Full Stack and Front End," and "Why Generalists Succeed and How to Learn Like One" from LinkedIn in 2020.
