John C. Underwood

John C. Underwood has a diverse work experience starting from their time in the US Army, where they served as a Sergeant and gained leadership experience. John C. then worked at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as a Materials Manager and Certified Fissile Material Handler. After that, they joined Certent, Inc. as a Manager of Information Security and Compliance, where they were responsible for revamping and executing information security policies and programs. Following this, they worked at Welocalize as the Director of Information Security and Privacy, focusing on international translation and localization services. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President of Information Security at Big 5 Sporting Goods.

John C. Underwood holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business Administration from Thomas Edison State University. In addition, they have obtained several certifications including InsightIDR Certified Specialist from Rapid7 in 2020, GIAC Strategic Planning, Policy, and Leadership from GIAC Certifications in 2019, CIPM - Certified Information Privacy Manager from IAPP in 2018, ISO 27001:2013 Internal Auditor and Management Systems Auditing v2.1 from BSI in 2017, CISM - Certified Information Security Manager from ISACA in 2017, and ITIL® Foundations v3 from EXIN in 2015.
