Andrew Downey

Andrew Downey has a diverse work experience in the scientific research field. Andrew is currently working as a DMPK Research Investigator contractor at the Bill & Melinda Gates Medical Research Institute. Prior to this, they worked at Axcella as a Principal Scientist from January 2017 to May 2023 and as a Scientist in Analytical Sciences from August 2014 to January 2017. Before joining Axcella, they served as a Research Assistant at the University of Massachusetts Lowell from September 2011 to August 2014. At the beginning of their career, Andrew worked as an Associate Chemist at Cambridge Isotope Laboratories, Inc. from June 2006 to August 2011.

Andrew Downey attended Hamilton College, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. Following this, they attended Lowell High School, however, no specific degree or field of study was mentioned. Lastly, they completed their education at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where they obtained a Doctorate in Philosophy in the field of Biochemistry.
