Yu (Steven) ZHANG

Yu (Steven) ZHANG has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Starting in 2011, they worked as a Project Manager and Auditor at China Environmental United Certification Center Co., Ltd, where they managed clean energy projects and implemented energy-saving initiatives. From 2013 to 2015, they served as a Programme Officer for the National Development and Reform Commission, where they contributed to the development of climate change adaptation strategies. During this time, they were also a Team Member of an independent research project and a delegate to the UN Climate Change Conference.

In 2015, Yu joined Loughborough University as a Researcher, focusing on bringing big data into building energy modeling projects. Yu (Steven) collaborated with various organizations to compile and integrate large-scale databases, creating a comprehensive spatial-temporal data framework.

In 2019, Yu became the Managing Director of Modular Geospatial Blocks, a nonprofit organization that shared their half-finished PhD research on global NetZero emissions challenges. Yu (Steven) conceptualized and designed an online data sharing and visualization platform for spatially linkable data.

Currently, Yu works as a Business Intelligence Consultant at Billigence, where they apply their expertise in data analysis and visualization to assist clients in making informed business decisions. Additionally, they serve as a Council Member (Volunteer) for the Association for Geographic Information.

Yu (Steven) ZHANG's education history begins in 2005 when they attended Harbin Institute of Technology and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics in 2009. Yu (Steven) then pursued further education at The University of Manchester, where they completed a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering from 2007 to 2009.

In 2009, Yu (Steven) ZHANG enrolled at Imperial College London and earned a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering in 2010. Afterward, they joined Loughborough University starting from October 2015. Yu (Steven)'seducational journey at Loughborough University began with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program focused on "Bringing Big Data into Building Energy Modelling." Yu (Steven) progressed to earn an MPhil in June 2018 but terminated their studies in June 2019.

Additionally, in July 2021, Yu (Steven) ZHANG obtained the SnowPro Core Certification from Snowflake.
