The Sr. Financial Analyst position is part of the Financial Planning & Analysis team, responsible for providing granular data and analysis on business issues, as well as planning, budgeting, and forecasting across Billtrust. You will collaborate with various levels of management within business units and corporate stakeholders to develop, interpret, and implement financial and accounting concepts or techniques related to strategic planning, forecasting, and capital allocation to drive business results.

The primary function of this role will be to incorporate AI capabilities and enhance efficiencies across the team in all aspects of data analysis. Expert-level Excel macro writing skills and a background in programming or database development are highly preferred. You may also serve as the financial liaison for designated business units or departments. As a Sr. Financial Analyst, you will represent the finance perspective, helping the business make informed capital allocation decisions.

What you'll do:

  • Develop approaches and provide explanations for revenue, expense, and cash flow projections.
  • Serve as the technical team lead on analyses, including ROI, NPV, and IRR.
  • Provide training to finance and operational teams as assigned, particularly in AI and data analysis projects, and in designing improved processes that save time in producing analyses.
  • Offer detailed explanations for all financial information related to assigned business units and departments.
  • Assist in preparing and presenting the monthly financial review package to management.
  • Develop approaches to the preparation and analysis of annual budgets and long-range plans.
  • Create methods for budgeting, revenue and expense analysis, business trends analysis, and special ad hoc projects related to the designated business unit or Billtrust as a whole.
  • Collaborate with business users to refine and enhance current reporting and analysis, often performing ad hoc reporting to meet end-user needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you'll bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in financial analysis or a related role, preferably within a software or payments company.
  • Strong working knowledge of standard financial statements and GAAP.
  • Expert Excel modeling skills: Ability to develop new and maintain existing complex, multi-driver, multi-year financial models using inputs from various data sources.
  • Proficiency in Excel is essential.
  • Knowledge of effective communication and presentation techniques for explaining complex financial issues and their underlying logic to various stakeholders.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software (e.g., Intacct) and enterprise performance management (EPM) software (e.g., Host Analytics).
  • Proven knowledge of common data visualization techniques and tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, combined with an approachable and collaborative attitude.
  • Strong desire to learn is required.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-changing work environment.
