Carl Sedgeman

Scientific Account Specialist at BioData

Carl Sedgeman has had an extensive career in scientific research and teaching. In 2021, they began working as a Scientific Account Specialist for BioData Ltd. (Labguru). In 2018, they were a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Caltech, where they studied protein-protein interactions between DNA repair proteins. From 2012-2016, they were a Graduate Student at Vanderbilt University, where they worked on a project involving the metabolism of aspirin by human Cytochrome P450 enzymes. During this time, they also served as an Adjunct Professor at Aquinas College, teaching a semester course of Introduction to Chemistry to 20 nursing students. From 2010-2011, they were a Teaching Assistant and Undergraduate Researcher at the University of North Dakota. Finally, in 2011, they were a NSF-REU summer research assistant in Dr. Eva Harth's lab at Vanderbilt University, where they worked on chemically synthesizing and purifying nano-particles for the encapsulation of drugs for better delivery to their target tissue area.

Carl Sedgeman obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from the University of North Dakota between 2008 and 2012. Carl then went on to pursue their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry from Vanderbilt University between 2012 and 2018. In addition, they obtained a Certificate in College Teaching from Vanderbilt University in April 2016 and a VICB Certificate of Chemical Biology from Vanderbilt University in July 2015.
