Carmela Shabazz has extensive work experience in the healthcare industry. Carmela started their career at Bracco Diagnostics in 2001, where they held various managerial roles in clinical research and affairs. Carmela successfully managed the coordination and operation of medical device and drug clinical trials, including managing a budget of $500K and overseeing 25 clinical trials across multiple hospital locations. In 2010, Carmela joined BRANY as the Senior Director of Corporate Development and Operations Support, where they provided business development and managed a team of direct reports. In their current role as Vice President of Operations at BRANY, they ensure efficient and effective operations and supports the growth and development of the organization.
Carmela Shabazz is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education degree (EdD) in Organizational Leadership - Behavioral Health from Grand Canyon University, a program they started in 2019 and is expected to complete in 2023. Prior to this, they obtained a Master's degree (MS) in Family and Consumer Science from North Carolina Central University, though the specific dates of their enrollment are unknown. Carmela also holds a Bachelor's degree (BS) in Biology from Saint Augustine's University. In addition to their formal education, Carmela has obtained certifications such as the Dale Carnegie Course from Dale Carnegie Training in 2004 and the Certified Clinical Research Associate certification from the Association of Clinical Research Professionals in April 2003.
