Anthony D'Amelio Jr.

Anthony D'Amelio Jr. is an accomplished statistician with extensive experience in biostatistics and oncology research. Currently serving as Director of Biostatistics at BioNTech SE since July 2023, Anthony has previously held key roles at Novartis as Associate Director of Biostatistics, where contributions included leadership in GEP-NET and SCLC trials, co-authoring a manuscript on innovative clinical trial designs, and mentoring junior statisticians. Prior positions included Associate Director at Daiichi Sankyo, where Anthony collaborated on the Trastuzumab Deruxtecan program, and Associate Director and Senior Principal Biostatistician at Novartis, focusing on melanoma platform trials and precision medicine. With foundational experience as a Principal Statistician at GlaxoSmithKline and a Postdoctoral Fellow at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Anthony's educational background includes a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from UTHealth Houston and a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University.
