Shiz Aoki

Shiz Aoki is the Co-founder and CEO of BioRender, a collaborative scientific design tool. They have been with the company since September 2017. Prior to BioRender, Shiz was the Founder and Medical Illustrator at Anatomize Studios Inc. from October 2010 to November 2022. They also had a brief role at Y Combinator in early 2018. Before that, Shiz worked at National Geographic as the Lead Science Illustrator from September 2010 to January 2018, and as a Science Illustrator - Intern from May 2010 to August 2010.

Shiz Aoki holds a Master's degree in Medical and Biological Illustration from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Prior to this, they pursued a dual degree at Queen's University, obtaining a BSc in Life Sciences and a Bachelor of Fine Art in painting. In addition, Shiz Aoki possesses the certification of CMI - CAAHEP - Certified Medical Illustrator from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
