Marilyn Garcia

Marilyn Garcia has a diverse work experience in research and development. Marilyn worked as a research scientist in R&D at BioSystems from June 2022. Prior to that, they were a personal investigator at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona starting from November 2020, where they focused on the development and characterization of functional foods and biofortification of alfalfa. Marilyn also had experience in hydroponics and controlled environment cultivation.

Before that, Marilyn worked as an engineer for development and research at EIT Food from March 2019 to September 2019. Their role involved idea generation and collaboration with various companies and universities for the EcoPack project, which focused on food packaging.

Marilyn also worked as a research intern at CIAL (CSIC-UAM) from February 2019 to July 2019, where they participated in allergy-related projects, including the development of functional ice creams and basic animal experimentation. Marilyn gained skills in PCR, flow cytometry, ELISA, and data analysis.

In addition, Marilyn worked as a junior researcher in the applied biotechnology research group at UDLA Quito from September 2016 to May 2018. Their work involved analyzing honey properties, studying the antioxidant and antimicrobial properties of plant extracts, and cell line analysis.
