Vice President, Infectious Diseases & Diagnostics Policy at Biotechnology Innovation Organization

Phyllis Arthur has extensive work experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. Phyllis currently holds the position of Vice President, Infectious Diseases & Diagnostics Policy at the Biotechnology Innovation Organization since October 2017. Phyllis has been with the organization since 2009, serving in various roles including Managing Director, Infectious Diseases and Diagnostics Policy, and Senior Director of Vaccines, Immunotherapeutics, and Diagnostics Policy.

Prior to their role at the Biotechnology Innovation Organization, Phyllis worked at Merck, where they held several positions. Phyllis acted as the Senior Director of Regional Pediatric Specialty Sales from 2007 to 2008. Before that, they served as the Associate Director of HPV Marketing (GARDASIL) at Merck & Co., Inc.- Vaccine and Infectious Diseases from 2004 to 2007, playing a key role in the successful launch of the first HPV vaccine in the US.

Phyllis has also contributed significantly to Merck from 1994 to 2004. Phyllis held positions such as National Account Executive, District Sales Manager, International Marketing Manager for hepatitis vaccines, Marketing Manager for hepatitis vaccines, and International Partner Manager. In these roles, they focused on building relationships with managed care accounts, implementing outreach programs to increase immunization rates, and overseeing marketing and sales of hepatitis vaccines globally.

Phyllis began their career at Merck & Co Inc in 1991 as an Associate Professional Representative. Phyllis'swork experience reflects a strong background in pharmaceutical sales, marketing, and policy development in the infectious diseases and diagnostics field.

Phyllis Arthur pursued their education at Goucher College from 1983 to 1987, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Economics and International Politics. Phyllis later attended The Wharton School from 1989 to 1991, where they obtained their MBA.
