Marcus Hughes

Marcus Hughes has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Marcus currently works as an Angel Investor for Atomico's Angel Programme. Prior to this, they served as the Chief Risk Officer for BitMEX, where they implemented a strategic plan and obtained regulatory memberships in Switzerland and Italy. Before that, Marcus worked at Coinbase, where they held multiple leadership positions including Managing Director in Europe and General Counsel internationally. Marcus was responsible for driving growth, leading teams, and assessing M&A opportunities. Marcus also played a crucial role in international expansion and served as the COO for Coinbase's European business. Marcus has previous experience as an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley, as well as roles at Speechly Bircham, PRS for Music, and Hammonds.

Marcus Hughes attended The Manchester Grammar School from 1991 to 1995. Marcus then pursued their Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree at the University of Bristol from 1998 to 2001. Following that, they attended BPP Law School from 2001 to 2002 to complete their Legal Practice Course.
