Melissa Masters

Software Engineering Lead at Black Cape

Melissa Masters has a long and varied work experience. Melissa began their career in 2013 as a Research Assistant, Outreach Liason, Work Study Aid, and Mentor for the Virginia Tech - Grado Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. In 2015, they worked as an Internal Services Cyber Security Operations Intern for Booz Allen Hamilton. In 2016, they began working for Accenture Federal Services as a Full Stack Developer, Functional Architect, Scrum Master, Functional Lead, Agile Test Lead, and Functional Analyst. Most recently, in 2021, they began working for Black Cape as a Software Engineering Lead and Software Engineer. During their time at Virginia Tech, they also served as a FIRST LEGO League Instructor, creating workshops and lesson sets for girls ages 8 - 13 to promote STEM education.

Melissa Masters began their educational journey at Chantilly High School from 2008 to 2012. Melissa then attended Northern Virginia Community College from 2013 to 2014. Finally, they earned their Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech in 2016. In addition to their formal education, Melissa has obtained several certifications, including an AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in 2022, a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) from the Scrum Alliance in 2022, a Certified SAFe 4 Agile Software Engineer from Scaled Agile, Inc. in 2020, and a Certified SAFe 4 Agilist from Scaled Agile, Inc. in 2020.
