Alia Mahama-Rodríguez is a graduate student research assistant at the Computational Neuropsychology & Affective Neuroscience Laboratory, starting in February 2024, and a technical instructor with Black Girls Code since May 2023. Previously, Alia served as a computational biologist at UT Southwestern Medical Center from February 2019 to June 2023, where responsibilities included work in the Konopka Cognitive Neurogenomics Laboratory and role as a bioinformatics scientist under Dr. Isaac Chan. Alia's diverse experience also includes a research internship at UT Southwestern, a graduate teaching assistantship at The University of Texas at Dallas, and a position as a software engineer at Spectrohm. Alia has held research and project engineering roles with various organizations, contributing to areas such as image processing and healthcare technology. Alia holds a Master of Science in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology and a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering, along with a minor in neuroscience from The University of Texas at Dallas.
