Ben Simai is an operations associate at [Blackbird Ventures](/org/blackbird-ventures). Prior to this, they worked as a business development and sales intern at Tailor-ED from July 2019 to October 2019. In this role, they developed and implemented Tailor-ED's Go-To-Market plan around the back-to-school launch. Ben also led and designed promotional videos, built a new landing page website, and created onboarding product tours.

From March 2020 to February 2022, Simai worked as a senior consultant and digital accelerator at [PwC Australia](/org/pwc-australia). In this role, they were responsible for innovating how and what the company delivered to clients, as well as upskilling people in their team and driving a digital culture within the firm. Ben was also the product owner of a learning platform that was under development.

Danielle Pinkus is the Head of Community at [Blackbird Ventures](/org/blackbird-ventures). Danielle has over 8 years of experience working in brand partnerships and content creation. 

Danielle started their career as a features writer and lifestyle editor at Bauer Media Group in Australia. After 3 years, they became the Honey Homes Editor at Nine Entertainment Co. In this role, they created content for the home and lifestyle vertical, as well as curating and editing user-generated content. 

In 2015, Danielle moved into brand partnerships, first at Future Women as the Brand and Partnerships Director. There, they created meaningful environments for premium brands to connect with Future Women’s professional female audience. During their time at Future Women, Danielle led and delivered partnered creative output including bespoke event activations, two sponsored podcasts and multiple native and social media marketing executions. 

Danielle is passionate about amplifying underrepresented voices and telling stories that matter. In 2017, they developed, scripted and edited three seasons of Next Generation Innovators podcast, showcasing leading Australian female entrepreneurs. Sylvia Jeffreys season reached #1 on charts.

Luc has over 8 years of experience in the social impact space, working to create a more just and sustainable economy. Prior to joining Blackbird, Luc was the COO of SOCAP Global, where they convened a global ecosystem of social entrepreneurs, investors, and leaders from various sectors to educate and inspire investment in positive impact. Luc has also served as the VP - PMO of V2V Associates, an investment design firm that works with clients to add economic value to their core values. In their role at Blackbird, Luc is responsible for developing and managing relationships with portfolio companies and supporting them in achieving their goals.

Temara Chapman has a wide range of experience in customer service, sales, administration, project support, event planning, and stakeholder management. Temara has also been a fundamental driver of the establishment of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Committee, editor and designer of our internal company newsletter, and responsible for planning and executing events throughout the year to boost employee engagement.

Kelly Spoerk began their professional career as an Undergraduate Researcher at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In this role, they were responsible for conducting research and writing reports on their findings. Kelly then transitioned to a role as a Travel Writer at StudentUniverse, where they wrote articles on travel destinations around the world.

In 2016, Kelly began working at The Women's College within The [University of Sydney](/org/university-of-sydney) as an Academic Assistant. In this role, they provided mentorship and academic support to college residents. Kelly helped them explore their academic interests, identify resources for additional information and support, and develop plans of study appropriate for their educational goals.

Nicole Marino is an Investments Associate at [Blackbird Ventures](/org/blackbird-ventures). Prior to joining Blackbird, Nicole worked as a Graduate Investment Analyst at [AustralianSuper](/org/australiansuper), where they were responsible for the portfolio construction and allocation of over $230 billion for a top performing pension fund. Major projects Nicole worked on during their time at [AustralianSuper](/org/australiansuper) include designing and modelling inflation scenario analysis, forecasting the potential impact of inflation on the portfolio, and modelling historical small-cap stock market premiums. Nicole also has experience working as an Investments Intern and Junior Analyst at Alexander Funds Management and J.P. Morgan, respectively.

Ewa Lobaza is the Customer Relationship Lead at [Startmate](/org/startmate), a position they have held since December 2021. Prior to this, Ewa was an Associate in Corporate Affairs at NAB from January 2019 to December 2021, where they planned and executed external and internal communications strategies for NAB's CEO, Chair and Board to mitigate reputational risks and generate opportunities. Ewa also managed NAB's Annual Review content strategy and annual reporting suite consistency review for two consecutive years.

Ewa began their career as a Research Assistant at [Lander & Rogers](/org/lander-rogers) from January 2015 to December 2016. Ewa then transitioned to the Sun Theatre, where they held the positions of Duty Manager, Projectionist & Assistant Theatre Manager from March 2010 to November 2015.

Ewa was admitted as a Lawyer in 2017 in the Victorian Supreme Court and High Court of Australia, having completed Clerkship and Graduate programs at Herbert Smith Freehills from January 2016 to December 2019. At HSF, Ewa advised on corporate transactions, including IPOs and capital raising, and commercial branding disputes, before specialising in employment and safety advice and litigation.

Zac Hardman is currently a Product Operations Specialist at [Blackbird Ventures](/org/blackbird-ventures). Prior to this, they worked as a Stock Controller at Tasmac from February 2015 to December 2021. Zac was responsible for machinery sales forecasting, pricing and ordering for all branches, and managed a rolling $20M inventory to achieve $40M+ in annual sales. As part of this role, they worked on numerous business improvement projects across the sales, administration, marketing, service and logistics departments. Zac previously worked in several administration roles before moving into inventory control. 

From January 2013 to December 2015, Zac was a Replenishment Team Member at Kmart Australia Limited, where they worked with the replen team stacking shelves and arranged cages for the next shift. Zac also met replenishment quotas. 

From June 2020 to January 2021, Zac was the Founder of TrailerShare. And from January 2013 to December 2015, they were a Stallholder at DocZ.

In addition to their work in the legal field, Lam has also served as the secretary of the UTS Law Students' Society.

Before Blackbird, I founded [Startmate](/org/startmate) upon moving back to Sydney in 2010. Before investing, I also started two software companies and lived in New York.
I’m most excited about things I haven’t seen before. By the time there is a category, the best seed investments will have likely been made. I love to see a company right when it is started, not when it has a product or revenue. Having said that, I am diving deep into usecases in biology outside or healthcare. I love autonomous vehicles and robots of all kinds. Most of all I love strange and unique ideas and the wild heart founders that make them happen.

Tom Humphrey is the Principal at [Blackbird Ventures](/org/blackbird-ventures), a venture capital firm based in Colorado. Tom has also served as the Partner at Access Ventures, a seed and Series A investment firm, and as the COO of Kanopy, a video streaming platform for academic and public libraries. Tom is also an angel investor and board member of the Rocky Mountain Venture Capital Association.

Meg Williams has been working in the music industry for over 15 years. Meg started their career as a project manager at MusicNSW, before moving on to become the executive director of the Association of Artist Managers. In 2012, they co-founded Spark & Opus, a management and publicity company.
