Göktuğ Güvercin

AI Engineer at Blickfeld

I completed my bachelor education in Computer Engineering department at Istanbul Technical University. During my education, I was supervised by Assoc. Prof. Islem Rekik to carry out scientific research on “The Diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Dİsorder by Machine Learning Methods”, which enabled me to deepen my theoretical knowledge base in machine learning and medical modalities. After that, Then, I did my internship and also undergraduate thesis on “Grasp Synthesis for Dexterous Robotic Hand” in Robotics Laboratory under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Sanem Sarıel. After my graduation, I decided to work in industry to obtain professional experience and to discover the deployment of machine learning in sectoral fields; hence, I started to work at Research and Development (R&D) laboratory at Vakıfbank as a junior machine learning engineer. At that time, I specifically worked on the development of a deep learning pipeline for an automated document processing system in which handwritten text sequences in banking documents are localized with object detection principle and then transcribed into digital versions by using a machine translation model.

Right now, I am pursuing a Master's degree in Informatics at Technical University of Munich, but at the same time I am working at Blickfeld as an AI engineer. At this point, I try to improve myself in two different fields of my expertise: Medical AI and 3D Perception. While studying on retinal vessel segmentation and continuity preservation at TUM, I focus on 3D object detection and classification in Blickfeld.
