Joe Ward

Joe Ward is an experienced reporter currently covering the Far North Side for Block Club Chicago since November 2019. Prior to this role, Joe worked as a freelance reporter from November 2017 to September 2022, focusing on news and features in Chicago. Joe has held various reporting positions including at The Real Deal, where coverage included residential and commercial real estate, and WBBM-AM, where responsibilities encompassed web editing and digital operations. Additional experience includes breaking news reporting for DNAinfo, editing for HERE, and local government coverage for The Kenosha News and The Register-Mail. Joe began a journalism career at The Daily Illini, progressing from a reporter to managing editor. Joe holds a Bachelor of Science in News-editorial Journalism from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
