Marcel Michelson has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Marcel started their career in 1986 as a market reporter, later moving on to cover corporate and general news, including the banking sector. During this time, they obtained a Cambridge University certificate of Proficiency in English. Marcel then worked as a correspondent in London, covering company news, engineering, and aerospace. Marcel also worked as a correspondent in Paris, focusing on various topics.
In 1999, Marcel became a correspondent in Switzerland, where they covered telecoms, technology, and industrials, including the ABB and Swissair crisis and Swisscom expansion. Marcel also covered Swiss economics, central bank policies, and organized an indicator forecasting poll for private bank economists.
Marcel then became a correspondent in the Netherlands, where they headed international coverage of the Ahold crisis and asset sales in Latin America, the USA, and Asia. Marcel also provided training and mentorship and covered Dutch central bank policies and the national budget.
In 2005, Marcel became the senior auto sector correspondent, leading a team of correspondents across multiple countries and driving coverage for the European region. Marcel also went on reporting trips to Japan, China, and the US.
From 2008 to 2010, Marcel served as the chief correspondent for equities, energy, and commodities news in France, leading a team of journalists. Marcel also took on a secondment as the editor-in-charge of company news in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and implemented change management and new technologies.
In 2012, Marcel worked as an investment editor at BNP Paribas Investment Partners. In 2013, they joined Blue Heron Research Partners as a Senior Research Correspondent for Europe, applying investigative journalism techniques for qualitative due diligence.
Since 2020, Marcel has served as an elected member of the municipal council in Lagarde.
Throughout their career, Marcel has demonstrated strong leadership skills, coaching and mentoring capabilities, and proficiency in multiple languages, including English, French, Dutch, German, and some Italian. Marcel is experienced in communication consulting, media training, public relations, editing, and content creation.
Marcel Michelson completed their undergraduate education from 1978 to 1981 at GSW Eindhoven, where they pursued a VWO degree with a focus on economics and social sciences. Following this, they attended the University of Amsterdam from 1981 to 1985, obtaining a Doctorandus degree (equivalent to MA/MSc) in Economics. In 1991, Marcel enrolled at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) to study British civilization, but the end year for this program is not specified. Additionally, Marcel attended Dr De Visser school in Utrecht in 1977-1978 for their brugklas, emphasizing general education.
