Andy Hoernecke

Andy Hoernecke is the CTO at Blue Lava where he is charting the future towards building the first business application platform for security.

Prior to Blue Lava he was a Senior Application Security Engineer on the Product and Application Security Team at Netflix where he focused on security automation, identifying and driving systemic security improvements to the Netflix architecture, and developing open source security tools. He also built and managed the Application Security program for Sears Online Business Unit and held a position as an Adjunct Professor at DePaul University teaching Master's level courses in Information Security. He earned a Master's Degree in Computer Engineering and Information Assurance at Iowa State University.

Andy has focused his career on finding practical solutions to long-standing, difficult problems in the security space. He couples his experience in Security with his interest in data visualization to provide unique insight into today's biggest security challenges.
