Ivan Paulino-Lima is a co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer at Infinite Elements, Inc., and has held this position since August 2022. Additionally, Ivan serves as a Senior Research Investigator at the Blue Marble Space Institute of Science, contributing to research projects, mentoring, and public outreach since January 2015. As a Biology Instructor at Foothill College since April 2021, Ivan teaches courses on plant and animal biology. Ivan is also a Visiting Professor at Universidade de São Paulo and has been a NASA Postdoctoral Program Fellow and Research Scientist at NASA Ames Research Center since August 2011, focusing on UV-C resistant microbial isolates for potential industrial applications. Previous experience includes co-founding Metalx Biocycle Inc., lecturing at Santa Clara University, and engaging in research and teaching roles at various institutions, complemented by academic qualifications including a PhD in Biophysics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, an MS in Genetics and Molecular Biology from Universidade Estadual de Londrina, and a BSc in Biological Sciences from the same university.
