Emily Smith

Emily Smith has a strong background in various positions related to performance excellence, accountability, operational compliance, quality improvement, internal audit, and internal control management. Emily has held director-level roles at UnitedHealthcare Community & State and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi, as well as an internal control manager position at C Spire. Their most recent role was as the Southeast Region Director of Performance Excellence & Accountability at UnitedHealthcare Community & State, starting in March 2017.

Emily Smith attended The University of Southern Mississippi from 1996 to 1999, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree. Their double major was in Accounting and Management Information Systems.

In addition to their degree, Emily obtained several certifications throughout their career. In 2001, they became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) through the Mississippi State Board of Public Accountancy. In 2003, they achieved the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification from ISACA. Lastly, Emily obtained the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification from the Juran Institute in 2006.
