Kenneth J. Sodaro

Kenneth J. Sodaro joined BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York in 1994 and is the company’s senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary.

He is responsible for ensuring business strategies, policies, and programs comply with all legal implications and risks. He evaluates legal risks and assesses the merits of court cases to direct litigation strategy.

In 2004, Sodaro was promoted to acting general counsel from assistant general counsel and assistant secretary, positions he held since 1996. When he first joined BlueCross BlueShield as staff counsel in 1994, he brought several years of experience in insurance and casualty law as legal counsel in the law office of Richard Galbo-Cigna Property and Casualty Companies.

He decided to pursue a career in the legal profession following several years as deputy in the San Bernardino County (CA) Sheriff’s Department, assisting with undercover vice narcotics investigations.

Sodaro attended the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law, where he earned a Juris Doctorate. He serves on the board of directors for the Buffalo State College Foundation Inc. and the Boys and Girls Club of Buffalo. He is former Chair of Leadership Buffalo's Board of Directors.
