Tom Ferguson has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Their most recent role was as a Network Support Engineer at BlueJeans by Verizon, which they started in December 2019. Prior to that, they worked at Elliott Davis for four years as a Senior Technologies Technician, from February 2015 to November 2019. Before joining Elliott Davis, Tom worked at Kenco Group as an AS-400 Support Engineer from April 2014 to January 2015. Their earliest known role was as a Tech Analyst II at EMCO Technologies, where they worked for seven years from October 2007 to April 2014. In this role, they provided technical support to the US Army Corps of Engineers ACEIT Enterprise Service Desk, resolving software configuration problems, troubleshooting computer issues, and coordinating repairs. Tom has also gained extensive experience in supporting customers in a helpdesk environment.

Tom Ferguson began their education by attending The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga from 1992 to 1996, where they did not obtain a degree or specify a field of study. In 2018, they enrolled at Chattanooga State Community College and completed an Associate's degree in Computer Science, which they obtained in 2022. During this time, from 2021 to 2022, they also attended the CDA Bootcamp by Level Effect and earned a Cyber Defense Certified Professional degree in Cybersecurity/CyberDefense. Tom has also obtained several certifications, including Security+ CE from CompTIA in June 2023, Cyber Defense Certified Professional from Level Effect in February 2022, A+ from CompTIA in September 2008, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) from Microsoft in August 2008, and Network+ from CompTIA in July 2008.
