Yibekal is a data scientist with several years of research experience at the interface of economics, psychology, and social development. His preferred approach has been to use quantitative models on the survey and experimental data to better understand human decision-making and its implications on policy design. Most recently, he studied the effect of promotional and training methods on the adoption of a new type of weather insurance product. Before that, he carried out an in-depth analysis of how individual farmers make adaptive adjustments to climate change, and the policy options to facilitate the same. Yibekal earned a Ph.D. majoring in Climate Policy from ETH Zurich, Switzerland, and an MSc in International and Development Economics from the University of San Francisco, US.
