Mathew Halter

Senior Bioprocess Engineer at BlueNalu

Mat has a B.S. in Biochemistry from East Tennessee State University and a M.S. in Biotechnology from the University of Tennessee. His graduate work was focused on lignocellulosic biofuel feedstock improvement, which was his initial introduction to the sustainable biotechnology sector.

Following graduate school, Mat worked in both process and strain development at DuPont Tate & Lyle Bioproducts, in Loudon, TN. DuPont Tate& Lyle at one time boasted the largest aerobic fermenters in the world, at 600,000 liters. During his time there, Mat became familiar with the challenges associated with scaling bioprocesses either up or down, and gained valuable experience in a large-scale manufacturing setting and clean-room management. Most recently, Mat worked in synthetic microbial bioprocess development at Synthorx, a Sanofi Company, in La Jolla, CA.
