Tyler Cayce

Character Effects Artist at Blur Studio

Tyler Cayce has extensive work experience in the field of character effects and technical animation.

Tyler started their career at Rhythm & Hues in 2010, where they worked as a Tech Anim TD, specializing in cloth and hair simulation and character cleanup. During this time, they contributed to projects such as "Mr. Popper's Penguins" and "Alvin & The Chipmunks 3." Tyler also had roles as a Massive TD and Tech Anim TD, showcasing their versatility in different areas of technical animation. Their employment at Rhythm & Hues ended in 2011.

In 2012, Tyler joined Digital Domain as a Hair/Cloth TD and Technical Director in Cloth Development. This role allowed him to further develop their expertise in cloth and hair simulation. Tyler worked on various projects before leaving Digital Domain in 2014.

Following Digital Domain, Tyler worked at Atomic Fiction as a Character FX Artist, focusing on character effects. Tyler then moved on to Digital Domain 3.0 where they served as a CFX Artist, specializing in cloth simulation.

In 2016, Tyler worked as a Technical Animator at Method Studios. Tyler honed their technical animation skills during their time there, contributing to various projects.

Tyler also had a brief stint at Psyop in 2017 as a CFX Artist, specifically working on cloth simulation for a Clash of Clans commercial.

Currently, Tyler is employed at Blur Studio as a Character Effects Lead. Tyler manages a team of artists and is responsible for cloth and hair simulation, rig building, pipeline TD work, and minor character and prop rigging. Tyler has worked on several episodes of the popular animated series "Love, Death & Robots."

Tyler Cayce completed a BFA degree in Visual Effects from Savannah College of Art and Design from 2003 to 2006. Prior to that, they pursued a BS degree in Computer Science from Clemson University from 1997 to 2002. In addition, they obtained a certification in Character Rigging and Animation from Alias in November 2005.
