In 2012, Besnik joined Waters as an MS Applications Scientist II, where they became an expert in Mass Spectrometry-based assays and designed innovative LCMS-based bioanalytical, ADME, and PK assays. After three years, they moved to the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, taking on the role of Research Scientist II. Here, they assisted in building and leading the analytical chemistry team and established primary protocols for LC-MS bioanalytical and ADME assays.

During their time at the Broad Institute, Besnik was promoted to Senior Research Scientist I in 2018. In this role, they led a cross-functional team in advancing early-stage drug discovery projects and played a pivotal role in developing and implementing bioanalytical and ADME assays for drug candidate selection and optimization.

Finally, in 2020, Besnik joined Boehringer Ingelheim as a Lab Head / Principal Scientist. Their responsibilities include leading a team of PhD scientists and technicians and implementing innovative translational strategies to discover and validate biomarkers translatable to Phase 1 clinical trials.
