As a Mechanical Design Engineer, your responsibilities encompass utilizing CAD software to develop designs for various stamped components. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize designs for production efficiency and quality standards.

What You Will Do

  • Utilize CAD software to design automotive stamped parts, focusing on Side Panel, Cantrail, Bodyside Inner, Tailgate Panels; also A, B, C and D Pillar.
  • Take ownership of design projects from inception to completion, ensuring accuracy, feasibility, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments of stamped parts in Steel/Body in White (BiW) environments, evaluating joining techniques such as welding or riveting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality assurance, and product development to optimize designs for production efficiency and quality.
  • Provide technical expertise and support throughout the design process, addressing any challenges or issues that arise.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in stamping technology, and emerging design methodologies to enhance product performance and innovation.

What You Need To Succeed

  • At least 5 years of experience working in a similar position
  • Automotive background or designing of production lines for machinery
  • Good knowledge and experience of Catia v5 / 3DX
  • Knowledge of GD&T principles
  • Proficiency in CAD software, with experience designing automotive stamped parts preferred.
  • Strong understanding of stamp parts feasibility in Steel/BiW environments.
  • Knowledge of welding and riveting techniques for joining stamped parts.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality designs on time and within budget.
  • Proficient English.

Desirable Skills

  • FEA and/or CFD experience
  • Vast knowledge of materials used in motorsport and aerospace applications (metallic alloys/technical polymers/composites)
