Richard Stafford has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Richard started their career as a waiter at The Dorset Arms from 2006 to 2010. In 2013, they worked as an Assistant Engineer at DNV GL, where they supported the company's engineers and completed a research project on wind power projects. From 2011 to 2016, Richard worked as an engineer at Rosneath Engineering Ltd, specializing in Ferrari cars and even racing in the Pirelli Ferrari Formula Classic. In 2017, they briefly worked as an Investment Assistant at Investec Wealth and Investment, focusing on portfolio suitability and regulatory adjustments. Richard then joined Bonhams in 2017 and held two roles. Initially, they worked as a Classic Car Specialist, valuing and appraising classic cars for consignment. Since early 2022, they have been the Head of Research for the Bonhams Motor Car Department, further contributing to consigning cars for auctions and taking on additional responsibilities in researching and verifying top lots, leading catalogue production, and ensuring accuracy. Richard has also qualified as an auctioneer and conducted their first auction at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2022.

Richard Stafford completed their Bachelor's Degree in Physics with Industrial Experience from the University of Bristol from 2010 to 2015. Prior to that, they attended The Skinners' School from 2003 to 2010 with no specified degree or field of study.
