Mike Hammond has over 35 years of work experience, beginning with an apprenticeship as a Telecommunications Mechanic with the Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (COD Donnington) in 1985. Mike then worked as an Installation/Service Engineer at West Midlands Telecom in 1989. In 1990, they joined Telephone Rentals/Mercury Communications Limited as an Installation Support Engineer, where they gained experience in common voice signalling systems. In 1992, they moved to Regent Pine as a Production Manager, where they gained experience in Human Resource Management. From 1995 to 2008, Mike worked at DigiLink Business Systems Limited as a Senior Engineer, where they managed a small team of engineers and provided internal sales support. In 2008, they joined Edge Telecom Ltd as General Manager and Senior Engineer, where they were responsible for the day to day management of the Shrewsbury office. In 2012, Mike began working at GCI: Enabling Your Future as a Senior Voice Operations Engineer and Voice Product Manager. In 2021, they joined Nasstar as a Senior Voice Operations Engineer and REGENT DESIGNS LIMITED as Director. Finally, they are currently the Head Of Technical Support at Boom Coms Limited.

Mike Hammond attended Burton Borough in Newport Shropshire from 1981 to 1985.
