Senior Director of Events

Operations · Full-time · Remote · Remote possible

Job description

About BoomPop, Inc.

Who we are BoomPop is on a mission to bring people together. We make it easy for you to have fun and connect on a human level with the people you work with, no matter where you are.

We launched with amazing virtual events and quickly expanded to IRL (think: offsites, retreats, client summits, annual kickoffs) as well as a single platform that makes it easy for any company to manage everything in one place. Although we’re barely 4yrs old, we have over 5,000 clients (Google, Apple, Netflix, Nike, Accenture) and have brought over 200,000 people together so far. And we’re just getting started.

Umm… corporate events? Oh YES, corporate events. We, as humans, spend ⅓ of our time working. And ⅓ asleep. The majority of our life is spent with people at work! The tectonic shift that is remote work has left 57% of office space vacant ($1.7T of annual spend: poof), and companies such as Airbnb, Salesforce, Shopify, and Reddit are all adopting the new mantra: “Offsites are the new office.” Companies around the world need help bringing their teams together and our goal is to make planning a company kickoff, client summit, or retreat as easy as buying products on Amazon.

Group travel pre-pandemic was already 40% of the $800B corporate travel industry and it’s absolutely exploding as companies shift facilities spend to IRL events.

Mission: Essence of the job As the Senior Director of Events at BoomPop, your mission is to lead and scale a world-class Event Planner organization. This team will grow to 20+ by the end of the year, and will easily double every year from there on. You will hire, manage, develop, and coach people managers and the team to be world-class at client servicing & event execution.

The Event Planners’ mission is to plan, coordinate, and execute a diverse range of events with exceptional customer service, unwavering adaptability to changing client needs, and a strong focus on meeting or exceeding internal sales and event margin goals. They will play a crucial role in creating memorable experiences that showcase our products and services while contributing to the overall growth and success of BoomPop.

Outcomes: Within 30 days, you will have a clear understanding of BoomPop’s business equation, short and long term goals, our success KPIs, and have gotten to know the entire events organization. You will have identified our strengths & opportunities for improvement, kicked off recurring continual training programs, and have an initial draft of how this organization will scale over time.

Within 60 days, you will have built out a plan for launching a comprehensive set of offerings: internal events, incentive trips, and client events - as well as have worked with your leadership team to determine how to streamline and optimize your internal operations without compromising on quality or user NPS. You’ll have made a material impact on our onboarding and training programs, and established clear swimlanes with the demand (sales and marketing) and supply (hotels, vendors) part of our businesses.

Within 90 days, you will have become the company’s go-to authority on event execution. You’ll have nailed your rough hiring plan for the next 12 months and be executing on that plan. You’ll have informed our strategy on how we can grow & scale BoomPop to be a household name in the event planning industry. The team is better off with your leadership & training. 🙂
